myinternet has been hosting product, technical, project, subject and curriculum based listservs for K-12 education nationally since 1995. We run listservs particularly for teachers. Some of these are Edunet, Edforum, Art Edu, Music-edu, English, Engvce,Techtalk, Viscomm, and Mac-edu. Currently myinternet has 2,323 subscribers across all listservs.

To join any of these listservs, email us and request to subscribe. Include in the email the name of your school.

Edunet is created for school Internet administrators and primarily acts as a SINA service support mechanism by facilitating the exchange of information in relation to IT issues. The Edunet community is one of myinternet's most long standing communities and consists of 250-300 members. Teachers on this list are predominantly Victorian teachers (others are from NSW, Qld, and South Australia), 98% of which are classroom teachers responsible for implementing and managing the Internet for their school. They are not necessarily trained for this responsibility and are limited by resources. Therefore this list can provide valuable support for the day to day Internet adminstration at a school.

Edforum is focused on the exchange of ideas on web-based curriculum resources and web publishing discussions. It normally involves curriculum co-ordinators and the current community consists of 102 subscribers. It acts as an exchange of ideas on topics such as favourite websites; sharing of resources and issue-based discussions on PD; conferences; professional and personal advice.

Art Edu is for teachers who deliver Arts subjects to secondary students. It acts as an online resource to exchange ideas, share resources, conduct website reviews and provide a professional network of teachers. There are presently 60 teachers participating in this community nationally. It was developed by myinternet at the request of teachers, and is currently moderated and managed by classroom-based teachers in their own time.

English is a subject list for teachers of English. This forum has been running for two years created and maintained by an English teacher. Presently, an active 175 teacher membership include subject associations Australia wide, university members, curriculum authorities, book publishers, as well as teachers from the public, private and catholic sector discussing diverse issues related to the teaching of English in Australia.

Engvce is for teachers who deliver English VCE to students in Victoria. This is another forum for the exchange of ideas, sharing of resources and information, including website reviews. Engvce is currently populated by approximately 100 teachers. It was developed and is given technical support by myinternet, but is now moderated and managed by Victorian classroom-based teachers in their own time.

Techtalk is one of the most active education lists in Australia. The purpose of the list is to discuss the technical implementation of computer networks into the school curriculum. Membership is consistently over 200 and discussion includes, operating systems, network systems, hardware and software issues.

Viscomm offers a means of communication for teachers who deliver Visual Communications in Victorian Secondary Schools.

Due to the large number of schools that have Macintosh computers, myinternet started an online community called Mac-edu to provide a forum for these teachers and schools to share ideas and discuss issues surrounding Mac computers in schools. The community has a range of teachers from government and non-government schools around the country. Sixty-seven teachers are presently subscribed to this community.Through these listservs, myinternet informs teachers of the new school projects, new software, informative sites, new technologies, and important dates throughout the year.
