How many layers of filtering do you have?
All Internet content we read, send and receive carries a RISK! It could be: pornographic, sexist, racist, discriminatory, virus infected, bandwidth consuming, school sensitive or just plain time wasting. We know that schools have a duty of care and a legal responsibility to provide a safe environment to your students when they are online. To help schools meet their obligations myinternet have produced mySPF (mySchool Protection Factor), which consists of a wide range of filtering tools built specifically for the K-12 education environment.

These tools fall into two layers:

Web
mySPF offers advanced profile driven filtering technology that controls where your school users are allow to go (this is powered by the world renowned SmartFilter filter list). Added flexibility is provided through tools in SINA Network which allow education authorities and schools to supplement this list to meet specific needs within their school/s.

Education authorities and schools can:

• Add URLs to the block filter list.
• Add URLs to the allow filter list.
• Set SmartFilter filter categories on deployment, school, group or individual level.

mySPF provides education authorities with the ability to create their own Edu List (walled garden) for users to safely experience the Internet. The Edu List is a list of URLs that are deemed appropriate for users. Users can be limited to only accessing this list when online. The Edu List can be built and maintained by the education authority and be available to all users within the deployment.

Email
The control of email, specifically cost (download) and appropriateness of content, is a big issue within schools. myinternet offers filtering of email in a number of ways.

• Emails can be checked for profanity.
• Attachment filtering can be set.
• Filtering by sender address can be set.
• Restrict users to only send and receive email within the school
  or the deployment.
• Only allow users to send and receive from an IP address within the deployment.
