Diocese of Wollongong
"Our system of schools is committed
to delivering quality catholic learning and teaching to all students
especially in the area of Information and Communication Technology.
myinternet lies at the core of our approach to enhancing teaching
and learning through technology. Its Internet management and web
publishing services, email and virtual desktop tools provide all
schools with the capacity to access educational content in a safe
manner and interact with other schools across the diocese and indeed
the world.
It has also enabled the diocese to establish a true networked community
incorporating associated agencies and parishes. We are proud of
our partnership with myinternet which has enabled the Diocese of
Wollongong to be a leader in the delivery of quality ICT tools into
the hands of students and teachers."

Schoolsnet Service
What do schools think of the Schoolsnet service? Read the testimonial
below from Rod Berger, Systems / ICT Manager at Benalla College
(VIC).
"Benalla College
started its affiliation with myinternet Limited back in 1997. Our
college has 900 plus students and over 100 staff and ancillary staff.
We were a country pilot school and enjoyed the challenge of setting
up an Internet / email environment for our college. The assistance
and co-operation that we received from myinternet was extremely
helpful, with positive and courteous attention given to our requests.
The never-ending changes to technology have seen their services
grow at an astounding rate and the service to our College has been
exceptional.
In 2002 myinternet
launched a new complete Internet service directly to Victorian schools.
We continued our association with the company by subscribing to
the new Schoolsnet service. This transition period was faultless
with only a small amount of paper work to be completed.
Prior to this, many companies sought our business. After assessment,
we came to the conclusion to continue with myinternet. The cost
/ competitiveness and the SINA software which makes the administration
of the system a very simple task, were just a few pluses of the
many that allowed us to make what we feel was the correct choice
for our college. This management tool ensures a safe environment
for students and staff. It allows close monitoring of sites and
student movement across the net. Setting up new accounts, especially
new year 7 groups can be set up in bulk and takes very little time
to accomplish. Each student has their own individual interface when
they logon to the myinternet site. This facility then allows the
user to customize to suit themselves. The Email is web based and
disk space can be set to assist with the students that loose track
with the reality of disk space management. For schools, without
major support from technical staff, the remotely hosted intranet
via the mydesktop can be a great asset.
The SINA software is continually being upgraded and any requests
or suggestions from staff and students is evaluated by the myinternet
staff and integrated into new releases.
The website www.myinternet.com.au is well recommended for schools
wishing to change their Internet service providers.
Benalla College would be extremely happy to recommend the myinternet
services to schools wishing to reassess their needs of an ISP."

Seven things I love about myinternet
1.
A full Intranet that is already organised for the school to use
via the myinternet interface and a web site. It provides and simple
and manageable way that links the school community and students
through one package, as well as providing the school with a wider
global presence. Access from home is via the school web site and
with a short cut to myinternet all the features and processes used
at school can be applied from home. It personalises children's and
groups access to the Internet with their own unique user name and
password that is rewarded with their own myinternet page that bears
their own name. It's as easy as setting the default to www.schooldomain.edu.au/myinternet
2.
Web hosting. Lots of space to build an online community with a school
site that can be linked to teacher and student pages building a
wonderful relevant resource that is especially tailored for the
school and visitors to the site. Through CGI-Scripts that are provided,
chat rooms, feedback forms and guest books can be added to enhance
the interactivity of the school website.
3. mymail. Students, grades and staff can have their own web based
e-mail. This allows users to send and recieve mail from more than
one PC in the school. This facilitates in house e-mail projects
and e-mail buddy projects from lap and pods of PCs and students
don't always have to use the same PC. The new features have spell
check a feature not provided by the others. This can be very helpful
for primary students not to mention those common typos made by all
users.
4.
Customised school myinternet page. Through central management a
customized school look can be created for the myinternet page with
lots of special features that can be updated and changed to reflect
the needs of the school. These can include school-focused vote-fors
and online surveys, news and tips, photos and more. Other features
are offered from myinternet that offer educational tips and links
to some great projects and ideas. The individual user can further
alter the final look of the page and include any number of these
additional options.
5.
Easy management tools. These tools allow the school to manage its
own users and options for groups and individuals. New students can
be added easily. Monitoring facilities allow the school to fulfil
its responsibilities to parents via global and local filtering of
sites in line with Education Authority
guidelines.
6.
Mail lists can be created for teacher and groups of students making
sending news and information to groups as easy as one e-mail. Class
groups can be created allowing communication between the teacher
and a class group as well as the option for individual communication.
Homework assignments can be disseminated and received this way.
7.
All Management tools are online which means any school or home PC
becomes a management console to update and manage the school's web
site and accessibility features. Also as an individual user can
manage, add update their work anytime anywhere!
These features make "myinternet" the preferred choice
for any school, teacher, student or Network Administrator.
